Chelsea are hoping to secure a place back in the Champions League after two seasons out in the cold
Chelsea are competing with the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Brighton for a place in next season’s Champions League as they look to finish inside the top four places for the first time under owner Todd Boehly.
The Blues currently sit fourth in the table, just one point ahead of the champions and just two points clear of Carabao Cup winners Newcastle who still have a game in hand after their triumph at Wembley Stadium. It has been a steady start for Enzo Maresca’s side, who in the early months of this season have made huge strides after last term’s sixth place finish and the previous year’s dismal 12th place season.
However, there is still plenty of work to be done for this to be classed as a successful season for Chelsea and Maresca’s number one priority will be to ensure that the Stamford Bridge side are once again dining at Europe’s elite table next season will also trying to lift silverware in this season’s Conference League as the club look to lift their first trophy since Thomas Tuchel’s time as manager.
Chelsea have been renowned for spending big on young talent in recent windows and know they will have added pulling power to get players to wear the famous Blue shirt if they can seal Champions League qualification.
Chelsea 2025/26 kit ‘leaked’
As per Footy Headlines - whose reliability, it must be noted, is somewhat hit and miss - on X, Chelsea’s three kits for the 2025/26 season have all been leaked and one of the kits features a nod towards the days of club icons like Gianfranco Zola and Gianluca Vialli. The Nike Chelsea FC 2025-26 home football shirt features the club's traditional blue colour, combined with white and a striking red for little detailing.
The away shirt, meanwhile, has an off-white main colour combined with dark military green and red details. The kit draws inspiration from the white, red, and green 1974-75 away shirt—50 years after it was originally worn during Dave Sexton and Ron Stuart's ultimately unsuccessful season in the dugout.
The Chelsea 25-26 third shirt is predominantly black ("Black"), combined with silver logos and blue applications. Chelsea last had a black and silver kit in the 2013-14 season. It also features the old badge that fans from an older generation may be accustomed to having seen the likes of Ruud Gullit and Dennis Wise in their pomp.
The third kit in particular has drawn compliments from several fans with one posting on X: “My god that third kit is a worldie.” While another added: “Take my money for that third kit.”
Chelsea’s Champions League hopes assessed
Chelsea are fourth in the league and firmly on course to achieve Champions League qualification due to the Premier League’s strong Co-efficient rating, which likely means that five teams from England will qualify for UEFA’s top competition next term
The Blues are one point ahead of defending champions Manchester City in the league table and two points clear of Newcastle, having played one game extra.
The Stamford Bridge club crucially play Newcastle on 10 May in a game which could have huge implications on the landscape of this year’s race for Europe. Chelsea are guaranteed Europa League football if they are to win the Conference League but will be desperate to get the cash incentive which come from Champions League football after a two-year absence.
