Man City are prepared to let Jack Grealish move on in the summer as he is no longer expected to play an important role in Pep Guardiola’s side.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 29-year-old would be open to an exit as he seeks regular game time.

The wide midfielder was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad and feels his best opportunity to reclaim his place may be to move away from the Etihad.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Guardiola will decide Grealish’s Man City future ahead of a potential squad overhaul this summer.

So far this season, he has made just 26 appearances across all competitions, with only 14 of those appearances coming from the start.

Injuries have prevented him from finding a rhythm to his game, but even when fit, he has failed to make his mark as Man City’s struggles have continued.

Grealish followed his latest club and country omission by jetting overseas for a holiday and posting a video sunning himself on the beach as soon as he landed.

Jack Grealish eyes Man City exit after England latest

Brown told Football Insider in December that Man City are concerned about Grealish amid uncertainty about his long-term future at the club.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the midfielder’s off-field behaviour has done him no favours.

“I don’t think he’s a part of Guardiola’s long-term plans,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s been out of the team a lot this year, even when he’s been fit and ready.

“That, to me, suggests they’re not 100 per cent happy with him.

“Jack doesn’t do himself any favours, he’s always prone to a picture of him partying or things like that which always adds to pressure and speculation.

“They’ve got an abundance of wide players at City, they’re important to the way they play.

“But it seems they prefer the likes of Savinho and Doku, with a bit more pace and direct ability to take on a defender and get the ball in the box.

“We know what Jack does, and he does it well, but he doesn’t get anywhere near enough goals or assists.

“That’s going to be seen as a problem for City, and I think they’ll be prepared to let him go.

“From his point of view, though, it might come at a good time.

“He’s missed out on the latest England squad and he might think the only way for him to get back into that is by playing regular football.

“That’s not going to happen at Man City, so he might be open to a move away.”

Pep Guardiola plans for potential squad overhaul

Grealish is just one of a number of Man City stars who could leave the club this summer amid speculation about a potential squad overhaul at the Etihad.

Kevin de Bruyne could join the MLS with San Diego FC when his contract runs out, while Bernardo Silva has attracted interest from clubs in Spain and Portugal.

Now, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Kalvin Phillips wants to re-join Leeds after leaving in a £45million move to Man City in 2022.

The 29-year-old no longer has a future under Guardiola and will be allowed to leave the Etihad when he returns from his loan spell at Ipswich Town.
