Manuel Ugarte outlines three factors that show Man Utd are on the right path, gives insight into 'intense' Ruben Amorim …

Manuel Ugarte believes Manchester United are finding some consistency under Ruben Amorim.

It has been a turbulent season for Manchester United, with the Reds positioned 13th in the Premier League and hopeful of finishing in the top 10.

On Sunday, United beat Leicester City 3-0 to make it four matches unbeaten under Ruben Amorim. The United head coach had Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes to thank for the goals against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s relegation-bound side.

United’s hopes this season are set on winning the Europa League as it’s the only route for the team to qualify for the Champions League next season. That would make life easier for Ineos in the summer transfer window.

The United first-team has two weeks off due to the March international break. Amorim will then try to prepare his squad to travel to Nottingham Forest in the league.

Manuel Ugarte believes Man Utd are growing in consistency

Protecting the back three from midfield against Leicester, Manuel Ugarte helped United to keep their first clean sheet in 10 matches.

The defensive midfielder will join up with the Uruguay squad for their World Cup qualifiers but he spoke to Andy Mitten for The National after the match at the King Power Stadium.

Ugarte revealed that he feels the team is back on track under Amorim, saying: “I think we’re more solid, more consistent, but the important thing is that we are winning again, that we maintain consistency in the victories, and we’re slowly achieving that.

“Obviously it takes work, but yes, I think we’re more solid when it comes to defending, and that’s important.

“We go to the international break with a 3-0 win, we didn’t concede any goals. We dominated a large part of the game, and we were decisive in front of the goal, and that’s important.”

He mentions three factors that show United are improving under Amorim.

Ugarte went on to add that the mood in the United dressing room is “very good,” which bodes well during a season that saw Erik ten Hag sacked for poor results, despite winning two trophies in his first two seasons at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim’s intense training methods

In the same interview, Ugarte revealed that he is enjoying Amorim’s training since becoming head coach.

Ugarte knew Amorim from a previous spell at Sporting CP, so he was to know that the training would be intense after he took charge.

“The training is very good,” said United’s £42 million summer signing from Paris Saint-Germain.

“Very intense. We always try to match the intensity of the game, and that’s important, because then it’s easier for us to have intensity in the game.

“And well, I think that takes time, too. It takes time to know the dynamics, but we’re happy.”

The 23-year-old is happy with the form he is showing at United, too.

He added: “I’m playing, I feel good. Obviously we want to get up to the top. We’re not in a good position in the table of the Premier League, but it’s a long way, and I think we’re on the right track.”
