Leeds United want £25m-rated PL man, would replace starter if promoted - Report

Leeds United are reportedly entering the running to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher this summer, as game time at Anfield remains in short supply.

Leeds right now can confidently say they have the best squad in the Championship on paper, but they are not yet demonstrating that level of quality through their dominance in the promotion race, only top by goal difference.

A criticism for why Leeds aren’t in a healthier position has been thrown Illan Meslier’s way in goal, and with that there are plenty of suggestions for the Whites to consider a new signing in the summer window.

A report from GiveMeSport has claimed that Leeds are now one of the growing list of clubs keeping a close eye on the situation regarding Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Kelleher started in the EFL Cup final on Sunday, but has typically found playing time at Anfield hard to come by, unsurprisingly so with Alisson Becker one of the best in the world.

The Republic of Ireland international is going to see his pathway to regular minutes at Liverpool become much more difficult with the pending arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

Of course, Kelleher would only be willing to sign for Leeds in the event of Daniel Farke securing promotion in the final eight games of this season, likely to have plenty of suitors – including Bournemouth.

Kelleher would be an outstanding coup for £25m

The report also states that £25million is likely to be the going rate for Kelleher this summer, which wouldn’t be a shock given the clubs that will be eager to make an offer.

However, if he’s wanting guaranteed starts, a promoted Leeds side might be perfect for him and he’d be an outstanding signing for us.

His shot-stopping has been exceptional in a Liverpool shirt, and making a vast improvement in goal is going to be a make-or-break signing for us standing a chance of staying up, if we get promoted.
