Liverpool learn price for Pep Guardiola's ideal player

Liverpool lost out on both Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez to Manchester City in the winter transfer window. The Reds’ recruitment team had done their homework on the pair but FSG ultimately decided to stay out of the bidding.

That meant Pep Guardiola had the opportunity to bolster his squad mid-seasonand City have had an upturn in form since. Liverpool could also be rivalled by City in their chase for ANOTHER key transfer target.

Eduardo Camavinga, 22, is reported to be unhappy at the amount of football he’s received at Real Madrid this season and Man City are interested.

He’s only made EIGHT starts in LaLiga for Carlo Ancelotti’s side and it’s been speculated that he could seek a transfer away from the Bernabeu this summer.

EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea's INSANE offer beats Liverpool to €22m transfer

Real Madrid want £70m for Camavinga

Camavinga is a central midfielder by trade but has also played left side of midfield as well as left-back for Los Blancos. His versatility - not to mention his high-quality performances - mark him out as a potentially stunning recruit for Liverpoolor City.

It’s been reported in Football Insider that any interested clubs will have to pay £70 million for Camavinga, who is under contract in the Spanish capital until 2029. That price may well come down if Camavinga decides to agitate for the move.

So Liverpool now know how much it will cost to augment their centre-midfield options with Frenchman Camavinga.

They lost out on Martin Zubimendi last summerand opted to avoid new signings in January. However there has been an increasing burden on Ryan Gravenberch in the No6 position in recent weeks.

It’s clear Arne Slot doesn’t fancy his back-up options Wataru Endo, Tyler Morton or Curtis Jones in the position and so an acquisition in the summer window could be on the cards.

Now that City’s interest has been revealed, the Reds have a chance to gain transfer revenge on Guardiola for missing out on Marmoush and Nico.
