WESTON, Wis. (WSAW) - The countdown is on. We are now 37 days away from the NFL Draft in Green Bay. Before then, you may want to curb your pre-draft appetite and check out the Taste of the Draft.
Palms Supper Club has been a staple for the Wausau area since the mid-1930s. This “local landmark” will participate in the NFL Draft festivities to show off their fan favorites.
“Taste of the draft is a first-ever event of its kind. The event is modeled after the popular ‘Taste of the NFL event,’ which is held in conjunction with the NFL Super Bowl,” Packers Event Sales and Service Coordinator Lexi Potts explained.
Potts says this year’s theme isn’t just for any restaurant, it’s all about a specific type.
“What better way to showcase the state of Wisconsin than have it be themed supper clubs!” Potts said. “So we received a generous amount of input from different supper clubs in the area, actually around the whole state, and we decided to hear from them about their different recipes.”
Two of the 20 supper clubs in attendance are located in central Wisconsin.
One is Bootlegger’s Lodge in Tomahawk, the other is The Palms Supper Club in Weston.
“It’s indescribable. I know it’s the biggest thing in my restaurant career I’ll ever be part of. We’re honored to have been invited. Of course, I accepted immediately,” The Palms GM Anna Anderson said.
While Anderson and the staff at the Palms are excited about the event itself, they’re also in awe about who it benefits.
“All net proceeds will come back to GENYOUth and we will use those to support school meal programs throughout the state of Wisconsin to ensure that all children have access to healthy school meals,” GENYOUth CEO Ann Marie Krautheim said.
“I hope they raise a ton of money for this charity. I love watching charity events because it gives me ideas here about our own little charity event we do here,” Anderson added.
Anderson says this will be the highlight of her career, along with her many accomplishments.
She and a few of the Palms staff are set to leave early in the morning on April 23. The 21+ event will be held that day from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Schreiber Foods in Green Bay.
Ticket prices for the whole event, including enjoying these dishes, cost $800 on Ticketmaster. The Palms will be holding a promotion for two free tickets to the event from April 1-15.
