West Ham Come Clean on Agent Rumour

Reports that Jonathan David’s agent, Nick Mavromaras, attended a [Premier League](https://www.claretandhugh.info/premier-league-bio/) game as a guest of West Ham United have been denied by the club.

It was widely reported that Axis Sports owner Mavromaras was present at the Hammers’ Premier League fixture against Newcastle at the [London Stadium](https://www.claretandhugh.info/london-stadium-bio/) on Monday, 10th March.

There seemed to be some suggestion that the London-based representative of Jonathan David had been wined and dined by the club in an attempt to sign his client. Mavromaras is currently reviewing offers from interested clubs keen to sign free agent David, whose contract at Lille ends in June.

However, C&H can confirm that the club knew nothing of the agent’s attendance at the game, and he certainly wasn’t a club guest—if he attended at all. Probably just as well, considering how poor West Ham were in the bore-fest, which would have discouraged rather than enticed any striker to join the Hammers.

When we asked our top source at the London Stadium whether the rumours were true, C&H were simply told, “No, that’s the first we’ve heard of it.”

That said, as reported earlier this evening, we have been able to confirm that the club have made a renewed bid for striker David. It just seems that schmoozing his agent with a few prawn sandwiches wasn’t part of the package.
