Fabrizio Romano names the £120m Liverpool duo most likely to be sold this summer

Liverpool’s summer transfer window is shaping up to be one of the most pivotal in recent years, with the futures of attacking players Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz now in doubt.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are preparing for significant squad changes, and both Núñez and Díaz could be on their way out.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano stated that Núñez is expected to leave Anfield, while there is also a “concrete possibility” that Díaz could follow him out the door amid growing interest from European and Saudi clubs.

Romano reports: “For Liverpool financially Luis Diaz is an important player so let’s see what happens there and then again remember about Saudi and more clubs interested in Luis Diaz who could be one of the names for the summer transfer window.

“Let’s say that my expectation today is for Darwin to go and for Luis Diaz to have concrete possibilities to leave Liverpool, not guaranteed but concrete possibilities.”

Liverpool set for attacking overhaul

Liverpool’s lack of squad depth has been a major talking point this season, and Arne Slot has struggled to rotate effectively when it mattered most.

With the Reds still competing on multiple fronts, the team has looked fatigued at key moments – something Slot will want to address through the transfer market.

While Liverpool will undoubtedly look to strengthen, they may first need to offload some big names to raise funds and make space for new arrivals.

Darwin Núñez – A departure on the cards?

Núñez’s future at Liverpool has been the subject of speculation for months, and Romano now believes his departure is all but certain.

The Uruguayan forward was reportedly close to joining Al-Nassr in January, but Liverpool rejected the offer. He was signed for £85 million from Benfica and the Reds will hope to recoup as much of that fee as possible.

Despite his high-energy playing style and undeniable talent, Núñez has struggled with inconsistency, particularly in front of goal.

While he remains a fan-favourite, Liverpool’s shift towards a more structured attacking approach under Slot may not suit his chaotic, high-risk style.

With clubs in Saudi Arabia and Europe monitoring his situation, Liverpool could cash in on Núñez this summer and look for a more clinical replacement.

Luis Díaz – Barcelona and Saudi interest grows

Unlike Núñez, Díaz’s future is less certain, but Romano has indicated that there is serious interest in the Colombian winger.

Barcelona have been tracking Díaz for some time, and with financial restructuring underway at Camp Nou, the Catalan giants could make a move for him this summer.

Additionally, Saudi clubs are also keen on signing the winger, and given Liverpool’s financial considerations, a significant offer could tempt the club into selling.

Díaz has been a key player for Liverpool since his arrival, but if the Reds receive a strong bid, they may choose to reinvest in younger, long-term attacking options.

Liverpool signed Diaz for £37 million but should be able to cash in for a lot more than that now.
