Celtics Make Unfortunate Jayson Tatum Announcement Before Nets Game

After defeating them on Saturday night, the Boston Celtics will take on the Brooklyn Nets once again on Tuesday. This marks the fourth and final time both teams will face off this season. So far, the Celtics are 3-0 against the Nets and are looking to complete the season series sweep.

Entering the game, the Celtics are on a two-game winning streak and have won seven of their last eight games. They will look to continue this trend and build on their momentum as the end of the season approaches. However, given the Celtics' recent announcement regarding star Jayson Tatum, this may be a bit more challenging for them.

Tatum has missed just five games all season, including two in March alone. However, he will officially miss his sixth game of the season against the Nets as the Celtics have officially ruled him out due to a right knee injury.

In 63 games this season, the Duke alum is averaging 27.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.1 steals. After finishing in the top six in MVP voting in each of the last three years, Tatum is putting together another solid campaign.

The Celtics do not play again until Friday when they will take on the Utah Jazz. While nothing is official, there is a chance the team just wants to give Tatum as much extra rest as possible before they prepare for their title defense next month.

Boston has an opportunity to become the first NBA team to repeat as champions since the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors. However, in order to do so, they need Tatum as healthy as possible.
