Bridge to be built on Kyrgyz-Chinese border in Alay district
AKIPRESS.COM - President Sadyr Japarov signed the law ratifying the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the government of China on the construction of the Kyrgyz-Chinese friendship bridge, signed in Beijing on September 26, 2024.
The law was adopted by the Parliament on February 12, 2025, the Presidential Administration reported.
The agreement provides for the construction of a 187-meter-long bridge at the Irkeshtam border checkpoint, located on the Osh-Sary-Tash-Irkeshtam highway in Alay district of Osh region. The bridge will be built by the Chinese side, and upon completion of construction, all work performed on the territory of Kyrgyzstan will be transferred to the Kyrgyz side.
"Ratification of the agreement will create conditions for the development of trade and economic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan, meet the growing demand for passenger and cargo transportation between the two countries, and strengthen friendly cooperation and exchanges based on the principles of equality and coordinated consultations," the statement said.
