New Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp glad to have 12s on his side now

Cooper Kupp may be a native of Washington, but the newest Seattle Seahawks wide receiver has had an interesting view of the Evergreen State’s sports fans in his NFL career to date.

Huard: How new Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp will coexist with JSN

That’s because once a year he would come to Lumen Field with the Los Angeles Rams, a hated NFC West rival of the Hawks, and have to hear the deafening noise created by the 12s.

Kupp is glad that’s no longer his problem.

Fresh off an introductory press conference at Seahawks headquarters in Renton, Kupp put on a headset and sat down for a conversation with Seattle Sports’ Wyman and Bob. And when the conversation turned to what it was like being an opposing player in front of the 12s, Kupp let out what was more or less a groan.

And then the former All-Pro, Super Bowl MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year went on to explain how nice it will be to have the shoe on the other foot.

"We gotta deal with these fans who are going crazy…" 😂#Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp describes what it was like playing against the @Seahawks at Lumen Field.

“It was eight years hating the 12s,” Kupp replied. “It’s a rewiring because you’d come in, you’re like, ‘Golly, we gotta deal with these fans that are gonna be going crazy.’ I’m now on the other sideline and being able to have that behind us, being able to be on offense and operate, being able to see the defense out there, the other offense struggling trying to get their play calls in and try to coordinate what they’re doing.

“That’s going to be a very special thing. I’m so excited to be on that side of it and not have to deal with it anymore.”

Not only will Kupp not have to deal with the 12s from that side of things anymore, but he’s likely to see a complete 180 in terms of how the Seahawks fans react to him. As a home state player who chose to sign with the Hawks, it stands to reason that the Yakima native and Eastern Washington University product will become one of the more beloved players among the fan base.

To hear more from Kupp on his homecoming and what he expects now that he’s with the Seahawks, listen to his full conversation with Wyman and Bob in the video at the top of this post.
