NBA Makes Referee Announcement After Injury During Knicks-Heat Contest

The New York Knicks handled the Miami Heat on Monday night, taking down a struggling Eastern Conference squad.

While the Knicks are maintaining their No. 3 spot in the conference, the Heat are crumbling in the post-Jimmy Butler era.

With an eighth-straight loss and just one victory in their past ten showings, the Heat are the No. 10 seed in the East with a 29-39 record.

They continue to freefall since the trade deadline, and might need to make some critical shakeups in the offseason.

The Knicks, on the other hand, seem quite steady as the No. 3 seed in the conference, holding onto a 43-24 record and five-game lead over the No. 4-seeded Milwaukee Bucks.

New York had to crawl out of a hole during the contest following a slow start, which is to be expected as the Knicks are without superstar guard Jalen Brunson.

Karl-Anthony Towns had a crucial stretch in the game to help the Knicks secure victory, finishing with 23 points, though Mikal Bridges led the squad with 28 points.

Evidently, the biggest injury in the matchup didn't come to a player, but rather a referee.

Scott Foster gets update after injury during Knicks-Heat

Scott Foster was on the hardwood calling the match, but it was a calf injury that will impact his future. The NBA referee is out indefinitely after the injury in the Madison Square Garden, as reported by The Athletic's Fred Katz.

"Scott Foster exited last night's Knicks-Heat game early with a calf injury, NBA says. Knicks and Heat played the fourth quarter with only two referees. Haven't received word on a timetable," Katz shared on X.

Foster left the game early, as Katz mentioned, and will now spend some time getting back to 100% health before returning to the hardwood and calling more games.
