Milwaukee Brewers officials recently met to discuss the future plans of three players who are non-roster invitees (NRI). The players who came up were Mark Canha, Jake Bauers, and Manuel Margot. Per Adam McCalvy, the players will be informed of the team’s intentions for them by Friday.

Mark Canha
When Canha re-joined the Brewers on a minor league deal earlier this off-season, the team announced that their plan for him was to use him at first base and designated hitter. He will have to be added to the 40-man roster if executives stick true to their word, but the 10 year veteran, who has a career 113 OPS+, has gone just 2-28 this spring with four walks and four strikeouts.
Jake Bauers
A year removed from serving in a backup role as a first baseman, Bauers re-signed with the Brewers on a minor league deal. This spring he has gone 7-26 with four doubles, two home runs, and seven runs batted in. It’s possible that he could be added to the 40-man roster and resume the role he had a season ago.

Manuel Margot
As a 30 year old outfielder and nine year MLB pro, Margot faces an uphill battle to crack the Brewers 40-man roster. Their outfield core is currently filled with the likes of Christian Yelich, Jackson Chourio, Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, and Blake Perkins.
