Watch: Pakistan’s passport delays will be over soon

Dubai: Pakistan is gearing up for a significant upgrade in its passport system with the arrival of two high-tech e-passport printers and six desktop printers from Germany.

These advanced machines are expected to streamline the passport issuance process across the country and overcome the passport delays. The new machines will not only reduce the passport shortage but also speed up the passport issuance time with fast printing.

The new printers will soon be installed and operational, marking a key step in enhancing the efficiency and speed of passport processing. To ensure a smooth transition, a team of foreign technical experts has arrived in Pakistan to oversee the installation and operational set-up of the new equipment.

Mustafa Jamal Qazi, Director General of Immigration and Passports, recently inspected the newly arrived printers at the e-printer section and was briefed on their capabilities. These high-speed printers are designed to process up to 1,000 passports per hour, which will substantially increase Pakistan’s capacity to meet the growing demand for passports. Once fully operational, the new printers are expected to reduce processing times significantly, improving the overall service for applicants across the nation, reported Travelsdubai.com.

This latest technological upgrade builds on a previous improvement made last year when 10 modern passport printers were introduced. That move doubled the Passport Department’s production capacity, enabling it to process more than 40,000 passports per day. With the addition of the German-made printers, further enhancements in efficiency and output are anticipated.

A team of foreign experts has been deployed to ensure the seamless installation and integration of the new printers. Their expertise will help optimise the equipment’s performance, ensuring it operates at peak efficiency. According to Qazi, the enhanced system will not only speed up the processing time but also improve reliability, making it easier for applicants to obtain passports in a timely manner.

In addition to boosting the volume of passport production, the new printers are expected to improve the quality of printed passports, with enhanced security features that will help prevent counterfeiting. This is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to provide high-quality passport services in line with global standards.

The Directorate of Immigration and Passport has also announced that more advanced e-passport printers will arrive in the coming months, further enhancing the country’s passport production capabilities and ensuring an even more efficient process for applicants.
