Former Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman agrees to deal with Packers: report

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman is departing the organization once again.

Two years after he left Kansas City to sign with the New York Jets and later returned via trade, Hardman agreed to a deal with the Green Bay Packers. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

According to Fowler, Hardman’s deal is a one-year deal with Green Bay.

Hardman, a 27-year-old who was originally drafted by Kansas City in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, had 12 receptions for 90 yards in 2024 for the Chiefs. When healthy, he served as the Chiefs primary punt returner as well.

The 5-foot-10 product of Georgia left Kansas City in free agency ahead of the 2023 season and returned to the Chiefs following an October trade with the New York Jets. Later that season, Hardman became a Super Bowl hero, catching a game-winning touchdown in the Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58.

Hardman battled injuries throughout his last couple seasons in Kansas City, dealing with knee and abdomen injuries that ended his 2022 season and 2024 season.

In six seasons in the NFL, Hardman has totaled 178 catches for 2,302 yards and 16 touchdowns. He was a Pro Bowler earlier in his career as a return specialist and was a part of all three of the Chiefs’ recent Super Bowl victories.
