BROOK PARK, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Browns released the latest renderings of what a domed stadium in Brook Park would like, on Tuesday.
The team said they [said they are committed to a long-term solution of a domed stadium](https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/a-letter-to-cleveland-browns-fans-in-northeast-ohio-and-beyond-on-our-stadium-process).
“First, we’ve done extensive diligence and have concluded that a new enclosed stadium with an adjacent mixed-used development is the most viable long-term solution, the Browns said.
Their plan is to have the team play there after their lease at the lakefront stadium in Downtown Cleveland expires after the 2028 season.
“That’s the first thing you’re going to see when you fly into Northeast Ohio,” Brook Park Mayor Edward Orcutt said.
During Tuesday night’s Brook Park city council meeting, Orcutt spoke about making sure the city is prepared to have a domed stadium.
“We’re 7.52 square miles. You have 176 acres to work with. This is the end. This is our last shot,” Orcutt said. “We must make this right, and I’ll tell you what, the attention to detail of the work has been a lot for this city, it’s been a lot for the Haslam Sports Group and I’ll tell you what we’re doing a really good job with moving this project forward.”
Orcutt added the city would not be investing in this project if they didn’t think they could do it long-term.
To do that, the Browns would want $422 million in bonds from Brook Park.
The Browns anticipate the infrastructure improvements needed for Brook Park to fit the stadium to be between $50-70 million.
Once completed, it would be more than just football games.
It’s expected 18 to 20 major events per year would be hosted at the stadium.
“We would not be putting resources in it that we have myself, the law director, and the finance director would not be putting the resources that we are putting on this if we did not think it was going to be beneficial to the community,” Orcutt said.
