With Aaron Rodgers still undecided about his NFL future, the Pittsburgh Steelers are widening their search for a new quarterback in 2025.
The Steelers are one of three teams identified as frontrunners to sign the future Hall of Famer after his release by the New York Jets, though Rodgers has not provided much certainty about what he will choose.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that no one knows what Rodgers is thinking, saying on his podcast that there is a general impression that Rodgers "would like to sign with the Minnesota Vikings." Schefter added that Rodgers has "balked" at the Steelers and "resisted their overtures."
The Steelers are not waiting on Rodgers, expanding their quarterback search to include one of this year's top NFL draft prospects. NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported on March 18 that the Steelers took time to meet with Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe.
"Former Alabama QB Jalen Milroe had dinner tonight in Tuscaloosa with #Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, GM Omar Khan and QBs coach Tom Arth ahead of his pro day, per source," Pelissero shared in a post on X. "Pittsburgh, which continues to explore all options at the QB position, owns the No. 21 pick in April's draft."
Pro Football Focus ranked Milroe as the No. 4 quarterback available in this year's NFL draft. He is coming off a final season at Alabama where he threw for 2,844 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, adding another 726 rushing yards with 20 rushing touchdowns.
