Guido Rodriguez could fall victim to Graham Potter’s plans for a summer rebuild at West Ham.

The 49-year-old has struggled to turn around the Hammers’ fortunes after replacing Julen Lopetegui in January.

The final two months of the campaign will give the former Chelsea manager a chance to assess his squad and decide who will be sacrificed so that he can revamp the options at his disposal and the former Real Betis man may be one for the chopping block.

Rodriguez could be set for £10million West Ham exit

Rodriguez was signed on a free transfer in the summer but has struggled to secure a place in Potter’s starting line-up.

The Argentine midfielder has featured just four times since the former Chelsea man took the reins at the London Stadium.

As a result, several Spanish clubs are keen on the 30-year-old, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The report (18 March) claims that Girona, Real Sociedad, and Villareal are interested in the veteran.

Martin Allen exclusively told West Ham Zone last week that the Irons are seeking a fee of £10million to allow the player to leave.

West Ham need to get rid of Rodriguez

The former Club America midfielder is not suited to the physical demands of the top flight of English football as his lack of pace limits his ability to adapt to what Potter wants from his engine room.

The fact that James Ward-Prowse was recalled from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the winter transfer window and is in the starting line-up ahead of him is a damning indictment of Rodriguez’s future.

Edson Alvarez and Tomas Soucek also ahead of him in the pecking order at the London Stadium and a departure seems like the best option for both parties at this point.

If a sale can be agreed with a reasonable fee that the Irons can use to replace him with a quality option, then it is a no-brainer and should be sanctioned.

With Spanish sides lining up to take him, the Hammers should take whatever fee they can get as his time in East London has been miserable.
