Newcastle United are doing everything they can to agree a new contract with Alexander Isak amid growing interest in his signature.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that new talks are set to take place in the coming weeks.
Following their Carabao Cup victory which put an end to a 70-year wait for a trophy, the Magpies are said to have been boosted in their chances of agreeing a deal.
Eddie Howe’s side have demonstrated a clear plan for progress and an upwards trajectory, and their cup win is seen as the first of many over the coming years.
They are determined to keep Isak as a central cog of that success alongside the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, despite interest in both from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
This comes after Football Insider revealed that Arne Slot wants to sign Isak for Liverpool as he looks to strengthen his attacking options this summer.

Newcastle doing all they can to agree Alexander Isak contract
Brown told Football Insider in February that Newcastle plan to hold talks with Isak before the end of the season as they make progress towards an agreement.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that they will do all they can to tie the striker down to a new deal.
“*Newcastle are working hard to keep Isak at the club,*” he told Football Insider.
“They’re going to speak to him in the coming weeks and see if they can agree a new contract.
“There’s a lot of interest in him, of course, but they’re hopeful they can convince him to stay.
“And it can be said, why wouldn’t he want to stay? He’s so highly thought-of by the club and the fans, the team have just won a trophy and they’re on an upwards trajectory.
“There’s a clear plan for progression with Eddie Howe that they want him to be a key part of.
“Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are central figures in that team and you can see what it means to them.
*“I think staying at Newcastle and committing to a new deal might be the best option for him and his career if they can build on this success.*“

Eddie Howe eyes new striker signing after Callum Wilson latest
While they remain keen to keep Isak at the club beyond the end of the season, Brown told Football Insider that Callum Wilson will leave Newcastle.
The striker is out of contract at the end of the season and no progress has been made towards a new deal, forcing Howe to consider potential replacements in the transfer market.
Brown told Football Insider on 15 March that Newcastle want to sign Jonathan David on a free transfer when his Lille contract expires in June.
However, the 25-year-old is attracting interest from a number of sides both in the Premier League and abroad and will have his pick of potential destinations.
