'We said to him': Diogo Dalot reveals what he told Rasmus Hojlund after his goal against Leicester, Bruno Fernandes…

The international break is now underway and it presents Manchester United fans with a chance to rest after a chaotic few months.

There hasn’t been international football since November, during which time Ruben Amorim has arrived and gone through a storm at Old Trafford.

Manchester United had a record-matching December for losses, and January was also not great. However, March seems to have seen a corner turned by United with the past two games seeing back-to-back wins by three-goal margins.

Bruno Fernandes has been pivotal for United in this run, with seven-goal contributions in the past three games.

Now, Bruno is in Portugal preparing to face Denmark in the Nations League quarter-finals alongside Diogo Dalot. Both will face off against fellow Red Devil, Rasmus Hojlund.

Diogo Dalot discusses facing Rasmus Hojlund on international duty

Dalot and Bruno were among those to celebrate most avidly after Hojlund broke his dry streak in front of goal against Leicester, but they’ll be hoping he starts another streak over the next week.

Prior to the game on Thursday night, Dalot has been speaking to the press in Portugal as quoted by Jornal de Noticias, and discussed the prospect of facing Hojlund.

“We were joking this week about Hojlund scoring a goal, which he hadn’t done for a while.

“We said to him, ‘Now you have a week off and then you can score goals again.’ It’s a good competitiveness, but from the moment we step on the pitch we’re no longer teammates.”

Dalot’s comments are sure to be echoed by Bruno as both will be desperate to secure success for Portugal, even at the cost of kicking Hojlund back onto a goalless streak.

How many goals has Rasmus Hojlund scored for Denmark?

Sunday was an emotional one for Hojlund who ended his 22-game goalless streak and he will now be hoping he will catch fire, like when he finally broke his Premier League duck in December 2023.

Dalot and Bruno will be hoping that Hojlund struggles against Portugal, however unlucky for both, Hojlund has a pretty solid record for Denmark.

In 22 caps, Hojlund has scored seven times which is a decent tally at the international level and a scoring rate fans would be happy with at United.

However, just one of these goals has come after he joined United, going goalless in 12 games for his country, which is a pretty bad record for the Dane which he will be keen to fix.
