Kellyman to miss rest of season after hamstring ‘reinjury’

Last Friday, young Omari Kellyman played most of the second half in Chelsea U21’s 3-1 win over Norwich City, marking his long-awaited return from a hamstring injury that he suffered at the very start of the season.

It was his first appearance in nearly seven months, and the 19-year-old was said to be quite optimistic that not only were his injury troubles behind him now, but that he was hoping to join first-team training and perhaps even make his debut before the season’s end.

Unfortunately, there’s been some bad news.

Kellyman has confirmed on social media that he’s suffered a “reinjury” and that he will miss the rest of the season as a result.

> “Beyond gutted to say that this season has come to an early end for me due to a reinjury of my hamstring, despite only just returning after having hamstring issues for a massive part of this season. 24/25 has been a tough season for me mentally and physically due to injury but it’s important now that I take time to get this right and come out the other side stronger and better ready for what next season brings.”

So it sounds like it’s a combination of suffering a setback, but also making sure that everything is truly and well recovered. Hamstring injuries are notorious for lingering if they’re fully rehabbed, so it’s probably for the best in the long-term that Kellyman makes sure he is indeed healed all the way.

Stay strong, young man! Get well soon!
