One Manchester United player has admitted he is poised to leave the club this summer

It is expected to be a busy summer of transfer business for Manchester United as Ruben Amorim looks to move players on and bring in the targets he feels best fit his system.

The Red Devils have picked up some form of late, drawing with Arsenal before beating Real Sociedad and Leicester City. A number of United players are now off representing their countries on the international stage, as Amorim remains at Carrington to work with the players left behind or who are recovering from injury.

United return to action away at Nottingham Forest on April 1 before welcoming rivals Manchester City to Old Trafford on April 6. United lost 3-2 to Forest when the sides met at Old Trafford in early December but the Red Devils did beat City in the first Manchester derby of the campaign, as Amad Diallo scored a late winner in dramatic fashion at the Etihad Stadium.

As the Red Devils prepare for the business end of the season, a number of exit decisions will need to be made ahead of next campaign and one player has already revealed he is poised to leave the club.

Eriksen addresses Manchester United future

Speaking while on international duty with Denmark, Eriksen opened up on how he has not held any talks about staying with the club. His contract comes to an end in June and having spent three years at the Red Devils, is now set to move on.

In an interview to Danish outlet TV2, he said: “I haven't heard anything, and when I don't, I assume that the collaboration stops. That's how I interpret it. Everyone knows that the contract expires, so I figure there's only one way [it goes].

“I haven't thought much about it. In my head I'm prepared to find something new. What that will be is not something I've decided yet. I don't have anything that I think I really want to try, so I'll see what comes and what suits me and the family.”

Asked if he could return to play in his native Denmark, Eriksen said: “I feel like I have a few good years left abroad. If I move to Denmark, it's like you're really looking at family and ending your career, and that's fine, but I don't feel that way yet.”

Eriksen’s time at United

The midfielder joined United in the summer of 2022 after a six-month spell with Brentford. Since his debut, Eriksen has made 99 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, scoring seven goals and providing 17 assists. He scored once during United’s Carabao Cup-winning campaign in 2022-23, netting in a 2-0 win over Burnley in the fourth round. He missed the final against Newcastle United through injury, however.

He made two appearances in the FA Cup last season as United defeated rivals Manchester City at Wembley. Eriksen was on the bench for the final but featured in the quarter final win over Liverpool and the semi-final against Coventry City. Eriksen is best known for his time with Tottenham, as he made over 300 appearances for the North London club, scoring 69 goals and providing 88 assists. He has played 303 times in the Premier League. When addressing his future he also moved out a move to the likes of the MLS.
