Football LIVE: John Terry joins talkSPORT, Al Nassr want Arsenal star, Newcastle cup hero eyed by rivals

'I've definitely had worse weeks'

Newcastle United's Dan Burn has probably enjoyed the greatest week of his life, and ahead of potentially playing for England this weekend, he has been speaking to the media.

On Friday, he received a shock call-up to Thomas Tuchel's first Three Lions squad, which would have been incredible in itself.

He then went to Wembley on Sunday, scored and helped his boyhood club Newcastle United end their 70-year drought for a domestic trophy.

The Toon beat Liverpool 2-1, but Burn couldn't celebrate too hard as he was in England training at 8am on Monday.

When asked about his week, he said: "I've definitely had worse weeks.

"It started off with the manager [Tuchel] facetiming me on Tuesday and telling me they were debating about calling me up, and he would let me know by Thursday, then by 6pm on Thursday, I hadn't heard anything.

"But then he facetimed me and told me the good news, and I struggled to sleep on Thursday night.

"Tuchel said he had been ringing everyone who hadn't made it, but wanted to end the day on a good note, and that he wanted me to be in the squad.

"I told him I could offer just as much off the pitch as I do on."

Then when asked about celebrations, he said: "As soon as we left the stadium, my focus switched to this.

"I got the bus back to the hotel at about 12 when it was getting a bit rowdy, and I was just ready to go to sleep.

"There will be time to celebrate, and that is when I'll celebrate."
