Liverpool FC’s director of communications steps down after 14 years

The director of communications at Liverpool FC is to step down at the end of the season after 14 years.

Susan Black also serves as a board member and executive director of Liverpool FC Women and a board member of LFC Foundation, the club's official charity.

In her position, she has primarily been responsible for the club's communications, engagement and employee communication functions, working with multiple external, internal and industry stakeholders.

In 2014, Black created and led the club's first LFC Foundation legends charity match to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Hillsborough.

Chief executive Billy Hogan said: "On behalf of the entire club, I would like to express my gratitude for Susan's years of dedication and leadership across our communications, LFC Women and LFC Foundation functions.

"She has played a pivotal role in all three areas alongside her role as one of the long-standing members of our executive team and we thank her for her expertise and commitment. She has played an instrumental role in shaping our success and will be missed.

"We wish her well for the future and she will always be welcome at Anfield."

Black added: "It really has been a great privilege to work for this incredible football club over the last 14 years. We are blessed at LFC to have so many incredibly talented, gifted and professional individuals who work together to ensure our club goes from strength to strength.

"I am moving on but in the knowledge that the building blocks that are in place are strong and fit for the future."

Craig Evans, currently LFC's vice-president of communications, will be promoted to the role of senior vice-president of communications from June 1 2025, assuming Black's communications responsibilities and leading the communications function.
