Kai Havertz shares cryptic Arsenal injury update as teammates show their true colours

Kai Havertz has shared an image in which he appears not to be wearing a knee brace on his right leg for the first time since having surgery on his hamstring.

Havertz is now a month removed from the operation that ended his season. It resulted in his right knee being in a brace that extended halfway up his thigh and down to the bottom of his calf.

The first picture posted following the 55-cap Germany international's procedure had his right leg elevated on two pillows while in the contraption. Then, earlier this month, Havertz shared three pictures showing he still wears that brace and features a pair of crutches in the background.

However, his latest post shows him lying on a sofa without the same knee brace over his trousers. The player's lower calf is also partly exposed, which was covered by the brace in previous images.

Several teammates have liked the post - including Bukayo Saka, David Raya, Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhaes, Leandro Trossard, Riccardo Calafiori and William Saliba, plus loanees Karl Hein and Reiss Nelson. As did former Arsenal players Jeremie Aliadiere, Runar Alex Runarsson and Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Two former Chelsea teammates, Antonio Rudiger - who he continues to play with for Germany's national team - and Marcus Bettinelli, also did. The former notably commented on his first post following surgery: "Get well soon brother (red heart emoji).

The latest update came after Havertz attended Sunday's win over his former team at the Emirates Stadium. Seemingly sat in an executive box, he took a photo of his view - as he added a red heart emoji to the image.

Havertz will hope to be back when Arsenal play the Blues again next season. When confirming his injury in mid-February, the club acknowledged an expectation that his recovery and rehabilitation programme would extend into their pre-season preparations this summer.
