Had Arsenal been neck-and-neck in a title race, this Interlull would be arriving with all the grace of a sledgehammer to the kneecap – two weeks of nail-biting anxiety, just waiting for someone to hobble back from duty clutching their hamstring.
As it is, with the Gunners marooned somewhere between Liverpool’s title charge and the chasing pack, a little breather doesn’t feel too unwelcome.
For those jetting off to represent their countries, there’s little respite. The Uefa Nations League is dishing up quarter-finals and play-offs like a particularly unappetising buffet, while World Cup qualifiers start their slow march towards 2026.
