Everton fans have high hopes for the summer – but some new David Moyes quotes may not go down too well.
Everton have secured their safety and will be a Premier League club once again next season.
Although not mathematically sealed, there is zero chance Everton will go down from this point.
It’s been a remarkable past couple of months under David Moyes, who is currently overseeing a nine-game unbeaten run in the top-flight.
Moyes going eight unbeaten saw him equal is own personal record. And fans now hope he can extend it for as long as possible.
Moyes is set to be handed a healthy transfer budget this summer, and fans really hope the Scot – with the help of his superiors – can build a squad worthy of challenging for Europe.
But expectations may actually have to be tempered.

Everton have a number of players out of contract this summer.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Loan players will also return to their parent clubs.
So it is going to be a busy summer, and lots of squads changes are set to happen.
But Everton fans hoping to see a super-team built for the off may be disappointed, with Moyes making some comments to suggest recruitment may be tricky at first.
He said: “Generally, I think there’s so many things which are good, but I think there’s so many things that we’re willing to try and improve again. We want to get back to where we were, if we can. I want to get back to at least the levels we were at when I was here before.
“That’s the first thing. So I’m trying to get us back where we’re competitive and in a better condition if we can, but it’ll not be easy. There’s a lot of things to do, recruitment and whatnot will be a big issue during the summer.”
It is interesting to hear Moyes issue a warning over recruitment this summer. Because a report from The i Paper at the end of January stated that ‘the club’s position will be much stronger as they look to restructure a squad that will lose up to 12 players in the summer’.
Potentially, Moyes is referring to the sheer amount of recruiting Everton may have to do in the next window, given many players are set to leave, rather than expressing concern over finances.
Kevin Thelwell replacement has huge job on their hands at Everton
Work is already being done ahead of the summer, with Kevin Thelwell helping to oversee the transition before he leaves the club in the summer.
We still don’t know who is replacing Thelwell as director of football.
There has been talk of Everton targeting Dan Ashworth, who is unattached after leaving Manchester United.
But whoever does come in faces a huge task given how many players are currently set to leave.
Player recruitment could be tricky. But with the trajectory Everton are currently on and the new stadium, hopefully the lure of the Toffees will be fairly strong for players this summer.
