Everton have experienced plenty of change over the past few months following The Friedkin Group’s (TFG) takeover.

The Merseyside giants are looking ahead to next season after David Moyes has turned their fortunes around on the pitch since returning to Goodison Park in January.

TFG, which is spearheaded by Dan Friedkin, is putting plans in place for the new era as the club prepares to make the move to their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton announced on 7 March Kevin Thelwell will not stay on into next season as the club’s director of football.

Meanwhile, chief commercial and communications officer Richard Kenyon is also leaving after 11 years at Goodison, with Angus Kinnear appointed as Everton’s new CEO.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it’s slightly surprising Thelwell and Kenyon haven’t been given the opportunity to impress the new ownership.

Everton owners want complete overhaul after boardroom reshuffle

Borson suggested Everton’s new owners want to go in a “complete change of direction” after Thelwell and Kenyon’s departures have been confirmed.

He told Football Insider: “It’s no real surprise.

“I guess the sort of sweeping everybody away without necessarily having given them proper time to impress the new ownership or even the new chief executive, you are talking about people leaving before the new chief executive comes in.

“Angus Kinnear probably does know those individuals you would think from being in the game for a long time.

“Maybe they’ve never got on, maybe he doesn’t rate them. I don’t know.

“I think it’s reasonable to make changes, but it’s slightly surprising I guess in some ways that they’re not being given the chance to have some time in front of the new management team to show what they can do or impress them.

“But they obviously just want a complete change of direction.”

Everton to face difficulties agreeing Richarlison deal

Football Insider revealed on 13 March Everton will find it “very difficult” to sign Richarlison this summer.

Tottenham are believed to be keen to recoup as much of the £50million-plus fee they paid to land the 27-year-old forward in 2022.

Richarlison told friends he wanted to quit Spurs in the January transfer window, with Saudi Pro League clubs registering an interest in signing him.
