Aston Villa defender Lamare Bogarde has insisted he is happy at the club, even if interest from Ajax is extremely flattering.
[Voetbal Primeur](https://www.voetbalprimeur.nl/nieuws/1264631/lamare-bogarde-over-ajax-interesse.html) cover comments from the youngster made to Voetbal International as he gears up for the international break with the Dutch youth side.
It’s been a breakthrough season for him at Aston Villa this season, with Unai Emery turning to him when injuries have hit in defence.
It’s seen the 21-year-old made 18 appearances in all competitions so far, playing 1036 minutes combined in the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup as well as appearing in the EFL Trophy and Premier League 2.
He is very much seen as a potential star of the future and has been backed by Emery while other youngsters have been moved on.
His performances have reportedly not gone unnoticed though, with several reports over the last month stating that Ajax are interested in bringing him back to his homeland.
They are rebuilding their side and focusing on youth once again and reportedly see the 21-year-old as an ideal addition in that venture.
Bogarde has seen the report and various claims on social media but wants to dampen down any such ideas for now.
“I have seen it pass by, yes,” he said.
“It’s great that a big club like Ajax is interested in you. Yes, with respect to Aston Villa, I am still under contract with them. My future will soon be more coming out.
“Right now, I’m just happy at Aston Villa. We will come to a decision together.”
