ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – NBA Playoffs are around the corner, and one Minnesota player took time for a special visit in Rochester.
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Mike Conley and his wife Mary were in Rochester visiting pediatric patients at Mayo Clinic.
Patients got the chance to meet Conley, share their stories, get autographs and play games with, along with meeting Minnesota’s mascot, Crunch.
“It’s just a phenomenal experience. I think you know, if anybody’s able to get out and have visits like this, they should do that. It really gives you a great perspective and their just so thankful, so strong, this just really inspiring, families and kids that are here out on a daily basis,” Conley said.
One of the patients, Konner is waiting for a heart transplant, another’s name is Ava who recently received a kidney transplant. Both being serious medical issues for anyone, so having the chance to meet a basketball star and be a kid again brought plenty of excitement.
“It’s just another great opportunity to meet Mike, I love going to the games, so it feels really cool in him the hospital visiting us,” Konner said.
The Timberwolves return to action against the New Orleans Pelicans on March 19.
