An “absolutely sensational” Liverpool transfer target has a release clause of £62m, according to a new update from reliable journalist Lewis Steele.
After years of being relatively quiet in the transfer market, it is clear that the Reds will be busy come the end of the season.
There is expected to be a mixture of incomings and outgoings at Anfield, with changes made to the attack, amid doubts over the futures of several players, including Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
At least one fresh face will be needed in the attacking third, if not more, and Wolves star Matheus Cunha has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer window.
According to The Daily Mail‘s Steele, the Brazilian has a £62m in his current deal, with Wanderers “anticipating a bidding war” for one of their best players.
“Many top clubs” are believed to be “monitoring” the 25-year-old, but it remains to be seen how strong Liverpool’s potential interest is.
Cunha could be a star at Liverpool
Cunha is a hugely talented player who has consistently stood out for a struggling Wolves side this season, scoring 13 goals in 26 Premier League in 2024/25.
The fact that he is a Brazil international is also no mean feat, winning 11 caps for his country, and pundit Micah Richards has heaped praise on his ability, saying:
“His football IQ is absolutely sensational. He’s the one who can unlock the doors. He finds the little pockets of space and makes the right decisions at the right times. He’s always scanning where he needs to be and always plays the right pass. He is so key in what Wolves are trying to do. He is the best at everything. Off the ball, he can do a little bit more – but on the ball, he is certainly the main man in this team.”
While not necessarily the out-and-out centre forward that Liverpool crave this summer, Cunha excels in a central attacking midfield role and could be a fantastic signing.
He has the technical ability and tactical intelligence to shine under Arne Slot and he can make the Reds more of an attacking force from the off.
