Alan Shearer explodes at Alexander Isak rumour Micah Richards has 'heard' at Newcastle United

Alan Shearer had an emphatic response to questions over Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United.

Like the rest of the Newcastle United fanbase, Alan Shearer is still riding the high of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

Shearer was spotted at Sam Fender’s concert just a few days after Shearer FaceTimed Fender at Wembley. The Newcastle legend headed to Boxpark after the match where he continued his celebrations with players.

An emotional Shearer text Eddie Howe to say thank you for winning the cup, and he has also showered all Newcastle players in praise – especially Alexander Isak.

Wembley was shaking when Isak scored Newcastle’s second goal, and after the full-time whistle Isak said it is “just the start” for this side – hopefully, that confirms his desire to stay.

Alan Shearer responds to Micah Richards on Alexander Isak

It is no secret that Arsenal and Manchester City want Isak this summer, but Newcastle will fight tooth and nail to keep him on Tyneside.

Isak is Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s favourite Newcastle player, so PIF and the club chiefs will certainly want to keep hold of him for as long as possible.

On the latest episode of The Rest is Football, Micah Richards reminded Shearer of the interest in Isak, but the Newcastle legend responded brilliantly.

“There is no bigger club he can go to than Newcastle, why would he leave Newcastle?” Shearer asks.

Richards replied: “I heard Man City and Arsenal are after him.”

But Shearer fired back immediately: “They couldn’t afford him, they would have to sell their grounds to afford him.”

Latest Alexander Isak contract update at Newcastle United

Shearer is right – Isak has become priceless to Newcastle, especially after becoming a hero at Wembley.

Isak has a contract valid until 2028, but Newcastle are eager to agree a new deal with the 25-year-old this summer.

The latest update is that Newcastle are willing to pay Isak £200,000 per week, which equates to a salary well over £10million per year.

Isak wants to be Newcastle’s top earner and the club officials are willing to meet that demand. With a trophy coming back to St James’ Park and Champions League qualification on the line, there really is no reason for Isak to look elsewhere.

Newcastle plan to dominate by 2030, and Isak can be a big part of that long-term plan.
