Chelsea set transfer fee for midfielder ahead of interest from Spain

Chelsea have set transfer fee for one of their key midfielders ahead of summer transfer window. The player has strong interest from Spanish giants who are prepared to spend big on him.

The star in question here is Enzo Fernandez who joined the Blues in January 2023. He had an amazing World Cup tournament with Argentina due to which the Blues paid €121 million to Benfica to secure his signature. But, after just two years the player is linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Fernandez is playing a crucial role for Enzo Maresca. This season he has scored 5 goals and picked 9 assists in 35 games. He is capable of playing as both central and holding midfielder. The Blues have no intention to sell him but they will be unable to hold him if the player himself forces for an away move.

As of now, Fernandez is heavily linked to Real Madrid. Los Blancos are keen to add another midfielder to their unit this summer. They are eying replacement for Toni Kross and Luka Modric who may depart at the end of the season.

Chelsea set transfer fee for Enzo Fernandez

According to Todo Fichajes, the Blues will not let Fernandez leave for less than €90 million. This may force Madrid to drop their interest in Argentine. But, they can still make a move considering Fernandez’s age (24) as he can be looked upon as long-term investment.

Chelsea have already tied Fernandez with contract until 2032. Their top priority will be to keep the player at the club. But if the player forces the move, they will surely demand hefty fee and try to recoup most of what they spent 2 years ago.

The Blues may then be forced to sign the replacement for Fernandez as soon as possible. Earlier, they were linked with a swap move with Madrid in which Aurelien Tchouameni will join them.
