Who will be the Minnesota Vikings‘ quarterback next season? We still don’t know who the backup will be after Daniel Jones darted to Indianapolis. The Vikings are still searching for their next veteran backup, but we do know who the starter will be.
While rumors of Aaron Rodgers landing in Minnesota are swirling, the four-time NFL MVP may not get a chance to play in a Kevin O’Connell offense, where he’d get to target Justin Jefferson.

Surprisingly, Aaron Rodgers is still seeking a job for the 2025 NFL season. The Minnesota Vikings are still looking to add another quarterback to the roster to join J.J. McCarthy and Brett Rypien. Is there a fit for Rodgers in the Land of 10,000 Lakes?
Not according to NFL Network’s insider Tom Pelissero, who claims the Vikings are moving forward with McCarthy as their QB1 in 2025. He adds that the Vikings “plan to add a veteran” but are “not pursuing Rodgers at this time.”
Moreso, Pelissero indicates that multiple teams have attempted to trade for McCarthy this offseason. The Vikings have had to reject several trade calls for the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
While McCarthy, 22, will be joined by a veteran, it’s not expected to be one who would threaten his status as the Vikings’ starting quarterback in 2025.
