Osimhen set to announce transfer decision in April

Victor Osimhen is set to announce a decision on his future in April, according to Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu.

Osimhen is currently on loan at the Turkish champions from Napoli and has scored 26 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions. He is the top scorer in the Turkish Süper Lig this season.

Galatasaray are keen to sign the 26-year-old on a permanent transfer, though the player’s 75 million euro (£63.2m) release clause makes a deal appear unfeasible.

There is strong interest in Osimhen from Europe’s top clubs with Kavukcu confirming the Nigerian has been approached by ‘the top five clubs in the world’.

Chelsea held talks with the forward’s representatives last summer but were unable to reach an agreement. Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked of late.

Discussing the prospect of Osimhen extending his time in Turkey, the vice-president said a decision from the player will be communicated to the club next month.

“Osimhen will inform us of his decision in April,” Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu admitted during a press conference.

“At the moment, the top five clubs in the world have also shown interest in him.

“Osimhen’s arrival was a dream come true. Now he is here and playing for us. In January, there was talk of him leaving, but he stayed because he loves Galatasaray. Today, he is the player all our rivals would like to have.”
