Ruud van Nistelrooy has vowed to “stay myself” amid Leicester City’s disastrous run in the Premier League.
The Foxes are staring at relegation straight back to the Championship, being in 19th place in the table and nine points adrift of safety with nine matches left to play.
After losing 3-0 to Manchester United at the King Power Stadium before the international break too, they are the first team in top-flight history to lose seven successive home games without scoring.
Asked how he keeps his own confidence up, Van Nistelrooy said: “It’s important to keep going and doing the things you believe in.
“I’ll stay myself. I’m not changing as a person or a coach.
“The approach, what we’re trying to achieve with the players on the training pitch and in the games, is the road that we’re on.
“We’re adjusting and trying everything possible to change results around. That’s my job and I’ll continue to do so.”
City face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on their return to Premier League action after the international break, on April 2, and Van Nistelrooy admits the break gives them the chance to “reset” before the final nine matches.
“The players are working hard and doing everything possible,” he added.
“They need some time as well to reset, the ones who are not with their national teams.
“The other ones will go to play for their countries and hopefully come back fresh and fit.
“With the other players we will keep working. Also there’s some time to disconnect.
“When we’re all back together, we can continue our work.”
