Carragher believes that main problem for Arsenal is the lack of creativity and not a striker
The main issue for Arsenal is not striker
Former England and Liverpool player, Jamie Carragher thinks that Arsenal are lacking creativity. Having limited striker options is not their biggest problem. He shared his opinion while talking on Monday Night Football.
Jamie was present on Sky Sports for the West Ham United’s game at home to Newcastle United. He expressed his thoughts on how Mikel Arteta’s side could possibly improve.
The north London side got another blow on their title hopes after the draw against Manchester United. The game ended 1-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Gunners are still without players like Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka due to injury.
The north London side lacks creativity?
The former England defender believes that the club is missing more players with creativity. He analyzed their match against West Ham at home on 22 February. And he highlighted their inability to create good chances is the reason why they are further behind in the title race. He also pointed out their lack of chance creation in their next away fixture to Nottingham Forest.
Carragher after coming to conclusion on the topic said: “Forget bringing in a number 9, the first thing they might have to do is more creative players.” He criticized the Arsenal players for not testing the Red Devils goalkeeper Andre Onana more in the game. He commented that after Arteta walked off from a TV interview when asked about his side’s fading title hopes.
Reporter Patrick Davison asked questions to the Spaniard in the post-match conference. Before leaving Arteta stopped to answer the reporter’s final question. But after hearing the journalist he refused to speak and just walked out of the TV interview.
In a different press conference he was asked the same question about Arsenal’s title challenge. The head coach said: “I don’t want to say that, but today the frustration is we didn’t win a game and you are obligated to win every single match if you want a chance to do that.”
