“It’s like the Super Bowl every two hours:” March Madness expected to generate $3.1 billion in bets

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - March Madness is upon us, and casinos on the Coast are banking on big sports-book betting turnouts during the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament.

The American Gaming Association estimates Americans will legally wager $3.1 billion during March Madness.

With both men’s and women’s teams from [Ole Miss and Mississippi State](https://www.wlox.com/2025/03/16/ole-miss-mississippi-st-clinch-bids-2025-ncaa-tournament/) making historic appearances in this year’s Tournaments, local interest is expected to be at an all-time high.

“When you have March Madness, you have a couple weeks of basketball every few hours. So, it’s like the Super Bowl every two hours here,” said Brian Hebert, the Sports Book Assistant Manager at Harrah’s Gulf Coast & Casino in Biloxi.

Stevon Moore, the Sports Book Manager at the Golden Nugget Biloxi Hotel & Casino said part of the appeal is that anything can happen.

“Everybody becomes a fan because you like to see a Cinderella school get in there and beat some of the bigger schools – and that will happen. Now I can’t tell you who it’s going to be, but those types of stories make March Madness what it is.”

Both the Golden Nugget and Harrah’s say spots in their sports book viewing areas are still available for the opening rounds but are filling up fast.
