Wildcat greats Rashid Shaheed and Jonah Williams reunite in the NFL with New Orleans Saints

Two Wildcat greats are being reunited in the NFL. Former Wildcats Jonah Williams and Rashid Shaheed will be on the same team with the New Orleans Saints.

Williams signed a free agent contract with the Saints this week, joining Shaheed who has been a member of the Saints for the last three seasons.

The two played together from 2017-19 at Weber State and helped lead the Wildcats to three Big Sky Championships and three trips to the FCS Playoffs, including the semifinals in 2019.

Williams has been in the NFL as a defensive end for the last four seasons since leaving Weber State following the 2019 season. He has played in 50 NFL games and started in 23 games over the last four years. He spent his first three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams where he played in 47 games and started in 22 games. He was a member of the Rams when they won the Super Bowl during his first year in 2021.

He was a member of the Rams, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

Williams was an All-American and a Big Sky Defensive MVP during his career at Weber State from 2016-19. He played in 54 career games with the Wildcats and had 15 sacks and 28 tackles for loss. He had 194 total tackles with three fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles.

He was named Big Sky MVP in 2019 and earned first-team All-America honors. He was a part of three Big Sky Championship teams and four trips to the FCS Playoffs.

Weber State was his only college offer out of high school in Meridian, Idaho.

Shaheed has spent the last three seasons with the Saints, appearing in 33 games and starring in 19 games. He earned All-Pro honors in 2023 and also became the first Wildcat to ever be named to the NFL Pro Bowl.

In his three seasons, he has 94 receptions for 1,556 yards and 10 touchdowns in the NFL. He also has over 3,200 all-purpose yards and has two punt return touchdowns.

Shaheed was a standout at Weber State from 2017-21 and was a four-time All-American. He is the only player in WSU history to earn All-America honors four times. Shaheed also earned first-team All-Big Sky honors four times and was a part of four Big Sky Championship teams.

He played in 53 career games at Weber State and ranks third in career all-purpose yards. He ended his career as the FCS all-time leader in kickoff return touchdowns with seven. He also had 2,178 career receiving yards, which is seventh in WSU history, and had 18 career touchdowns.

He was undrafted in the 2022 draft but signed as a free agent with the Saints.
