'It would not be a surprise': Newcastle could now bid for Bournemouth attacker this summer -…

It is going to be a busy summer transfer window at Newcastle United.

After selling Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly, Newcastle United are in a strong position in terms of PSR to invest.

PIF want Newcastle to be an elite club, and for that to happen they need more depth.

It is reported that Newcastle want three signings, with fresh faces in attack absolutely essential.

Newcastle United discuss Justin Kluivert transfer

That could lead Eddie Howe to his former club Bournemouth, as Newcastle United target Justin Kluivert.

The Dutchman has been linked with a move to St James’ Park, and new details regarding the Magpies’ interest have emerged.

According to the Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Newcastle United’s recruitment team have spoken about Kluivert a lot during their initial transfer meetings.

Edwards adds that ‘it would not be a surprise’ if the Magpies made a bid to sign the 25-year-old from Bournemouth.

Where Justin Kluivert would fit in at Newcastle United

While Patrick Kluivert had a disastrous spell at Newcastle, the hope would be that his son Justin would be much more successful on Tyneside.

Given how well he has played this season, it is no surprise that Toon officials are interested in the Dutchman. He has scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions this season, with four of his goal contributions coming against Newcastle United.

Kluivert scored a hat-trick and provided an assist during Bournemouth’s 4-1 win at St James’ Park in January.

He played as an attacking midfielder that day, which is where he has operated for the majority of the campaign.

With that in mind, a move to Newcastle would be curious. Eddie Howe traditionally uses a three in midfield, but there have been plenty of moments this season when it has been clear that Newcastle could benefit from having an attacking midfielder.

Alternatively, Kluivert can play off the left, but Newcastle already have Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes competing for that position.
