Arsenal will hope that key player Bukayo Saka can return to full fitness before they face Real Madrid in the Champions League next month.
The winger has been sidelined since December but, with the Gunners now out of action until the start of April, Mikel Arteta will hope to see Saka recover in time to face Real in the quarter-finals.
Arsenal have struggled with injuries in attack for several months now, with both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus having both also been ruled out for the remainder of the current campaign.
With that in mind, it appears that the North London side will target a new striker during the upcoming transfer window.
According to Charlie Watts via The DailyBriefing, Arsenal have genuine interest in Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, but remain more likely to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko this summer.
It is claimed that Isak – who scored in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool on Sunday – is a genuine target for the Gunners.
Isak has scored 23 goals in 33 games across all competitions so far this term.
Arsenal hold an interest in Leipzig striker Sesko
The Swede is contracted to the Magpies until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, however, which puts the North East giants in a commanding position and could mean a deal will prove very tricky for Arsenal.
Sesko, meanwhile, has scored ten times in 25 Bundesliga matches so far this season, and Watts claims that he is a more realistic target for Arsenal this summer.
Watts does also claim, however, that the idea of Arsenal pushing the boat out to secure a huge signing this summer cannot be ruled out, particularly if Isak were to become available.
It is claimed that Arsenal have been working behind the scenes on a potential deal for Sesko, and German side Leipzig are set to be open to the idea of agreeing a deal this summer.
