Three ways Enzo Maresca could solve left wing issue after major Jadon Sancho development - opinion

After a very bright start, Jadon Sancho’s loan spell at Chelsea has taken a turn in the wrong direction.

Sancho is on a 14-game goal drought in the Premier League, and it looks like the Blues are starting to have some serious doubts about the winger.

Sancho was initially signed on loan, with that loan set to become a permanent transfer if Chelsea finish 14th or higher this season.

However, according to The i Paper, Chelsea can get out of the deal if they pay a penalty fee and are now considering it. If the Blues go through with it, here are three possible solutions to solve their left wing dilemma.

Sign a new left winger

The obvious solution to solving this Sancho issue is replacing him with a new left winger. If Chelsea do send Sancho back to Manchester United, they could always sign another wide man to succeed the 24-year-old.

The Blues have already been linked with several left wingers, including United’s Alejandro Garnacho. Chelsea targeted Garnacho in the last transfer window, so he could be one option for them.

Given how Sancho’s loan has gone and some of the chances that Garnacho has missed this season, though, you suspect a lot of Chelsea fans will be against bringing in another United star.

Start Pedro Neto on the left

Enzo Maresca has other options at Chelsea who can also start on the left, such as Pedro Neto. In fact, the 25-year-old has already played there under the Italian.

Neto may be thriving as a striker right now, but he will lose that spot once Nicolas Jackson returns from injury. But with Sancho possibly set to head back to Old Trafford, there could be space for him on the left next term.

Take a punt on Tyrique George

Like Neto, Tyrique George is another current Chelsea player who can play as a left winger.

He is young, but George has put in some really promising displays of late, even managing to record a couple of assists for his side. Instead of paying ridiculous money for Garnacho or Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens, why not trust one of their own?

There is no guarantee that Sancho will be returning to United at the end of the season. But if he does, Maresca will have solutions to fix Chelsea’s left wing.
