Report: Manchester United make first contact to try and sign 'extraordinary' teenager, Paul Scholes is a fan

Manchester United have shown signs of progress under Ruben Amorim but it’s clear that major summer additions are still needed.

Ruben Amorim will no doubt feel encouraged that his Manchester United squad is starting to turn a corner.

United beat Leicester City 3-0 on Sunday, just days after advancing into the last eight of the Europa League.

Amorim surely feels that United are starting to gain momentum and will be looking to end the season on a high.

The United boss should be under no illusions though – major reinforcements are still needed this summer no matter how the season ends.

Ineos recently announced new redundancies at United and spending this summer will have to be measured, but Amorim certainly needs signings.

Manchester United move for Kenan Yildiz

Attacking additions will be paramount despite some promising signs.

Joshua Zirkzee’s talent on the ball is shining through as a number 10, Alejandro Garnacho scored on Sunday and Rasmus Hojlund celebrated ending his goal drought against Leicester.

United need consistent impact moving forward though and that means potentially spending on a new attacker.

TEAMtalk’s Rudy Galetti now claims that United have made initial contact over a potential move for Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz.

It’s suggested that United are exploring a deal with Juventus willing to sell Yildiz for around €90million (£76million).

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are also showing an interest though, meaning United will face a real battle for Yildiz’s signature.

Juventus ideally want to keep Yildiz but realise that selling him can bring in crucial funds after a disappointing campaign under Thiago Motta.

If Juve miss out on the Champions League, selling Yildiz will become even more appealing – and United may be willing to splash big money on him.

Yildiz hails from Germany but represents Turkiye on the international stage having been born to a Turkish father and German mother.

Bayern Munich pounced to sign Yildiz from hometown club Jahn Regensberg in 2012 with the forward aged just seven.

Yildiz decided to quit Bayern after 10 years in their ranks, joining Juventus in 2022.

The 19-year-old has now hit 10 goals and five assists in 73 first-team games for Juve, showing huge potential throughout.

Capable of playing as a winger or attacking midfield, Yildiz could be a strong fit for Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 tactics as one of the players working off the striker.

United legend Paul Scholes is a big fan of Yildiz and ex-Juventus ace Marco Marchionni has told Tuttomercatoweb that the teenager is an ‘extraordinary’ player.

This would be a huge investment for United to make but Yildiz has the potential to become a star down the line – and Ineos will be eyeing up Juve’s Champions League fate with interest.
