Liverpool will be eager to know whether Manchester City were successful in their legal battle against the Premier League. In February 2023, the English top-flight charged its champions with 115 alleged breaches of financial regulations.
These include accusations that the club failed to provide accurate financial information and failed to cooperate with investigations spanning nine seasons (2009/10 to 2017/18). Man City strongly denied any wrongdoing, so they pushed to prove their innocence in front of an independent panel.
The case – which was heard in private at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London – concluded at the end of last year. A three-man panel have been reviewing the evidence, and they're expected to deliver a final verdict soon.

It's said that if Man City are found guilty, they could be hit with a financial penalty, point deduction or even stripped honours. So, with that being said, we have looked at what trophies clubs could claim if Man City were to have their titles stripped.
Manchester United – 2011/12
Man City won their first of three Premier League titles during the nine-season window in 2011/12. Sergio Aguero fired Roberto Mancini's side to glory with a brilliant strike in the dying embers of stoppage time on the final day of the season.
Not only was it the club's first English top-flight honour since 1967/68, but also they denied their rivals a 20th title. If Man City were to be stripped of their honours, this trophy would be handed over to Manchester United.
Liverpool – 2013/14
Despite Luis Suarez's best efforts, scoring an eye-watering 31 goals and winning player of the season, Liverpool couldn't quite climb to the top of the Premier League table in 2013/14. Just two points separated the Reds (84) from Man City in first place (86) in a campaign that will never be forgotten.
Liverpool recorded the longest winning streak that term (11 games) and the longest unbeaten run (16 games). Brendan Rodgers' side also enjoyed the biggest away win of the season, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 in December.
Manchester United – 2017/18
Man City won their third of three Premier League titles during the nine-season window in 2017/18. With Pep Guardiola in the dugout, history was made; the Spaniard notched 100 points and won the English top-flight by an astounding 19 point margin.
Mohamed Salah won the golden boot with 32 goals to his name, yet Liverpool only managed to finish fourth. The following season, Jurgen Klopp transformed the Reds' fortunes and they ranked second – just one point behind Man City.
