Barcelona may set aside around €60-70 million to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool in the summer as Hansi Flick is keen to add a left winger.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona could target a move for Luis Diaz, who could leave Liverpool in the summer. The Catalan giants have reportedly planned to set aside €60-70 million to reinforce their left wing, with the 28-year-old Liverpool star seen as a key target for Hansi Flick and Deco.
Since the start of the season, there has been a lot of talk about Luis Diaz’s future at Liverpool. The Colombian winger has not been in his best form this term but is still seen as an important player under Arne Slot. His current deal expires in 2027, with previous comments from his father indicating he might be open to a switch to one of the La Liga giants.
Last summer there were unprecedented links to Manchester City, and then to Barcelona. The latter were indeed looking at a new left-winger with uncertainties surrounding Raphinha’s future at the time, with suggestions the club were considering a big money sale of the Brazilian.
Barcelona were heavily linked with a move for Nico Williams, and while they failed to sign the Spanish international, the Athletic Club winger remains linked. The form of Raphinha throughout the season has cooled talks of signing a left-winger, although that is a position Hansi Flick wants a new player in albeit as a competitor.
While Williams is a player on their list, Barcelona are laying the groundwork for Luis Diaz ahead of the summer. They have reportedly planned to set aside at least €60-70 million to sign a. new left-winger, with the 28-year-old Liverpool star one of their firm targets for the close season. The Catalans are not alone in the race, as Atletico Madrid are also interested in the Reds winger.
Will Barcelona sign Diaz?
The idea of investing in a 28-year-old with no future sales prospect in him could be a baffling decision, especially when the club had earmarked a player like Williams for the position. In any case, the interest in Luis Diaz is nothing new, although Liverpool’s stance has to be considered, as the Premier League side are open to handing him a new deal.
Diaz will have to decide on his future, and the upcoming summer might be the best time to make the switch when he will have two years remaining on his deal. Should he sign a new deal at the club, the Colombian will be destined to spend the prime years of his career at Anfield, or he can decide to leave should Barcelona come in with a serious offer.
