Sané’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season, and with no extension from the player, Arsenal is preparing moves that could disrupt the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta, favorite for many for his meticulous way of squad building, has reportedly begged the Arsenal board to get Sané to the Emirates. Actually, who can fault him? The raw pace, flair and ability to deliver in showpiece moments make Sané the type of player Arsenal have been lacking to complete the title puzzle.

It’s more than just a passing fancy towards Leroy Sané with Arsenal’s interest. Sané fits that bill perfectly for Arteta, who’s creating a team with yearned exuberance mixed with seasoned knowhow. At 29, he has plenty of experience playing in the Premier League (hello, Manchester fans) and the Bundesliga. And, to be frank, he knows how to set a defender ablaze on a summer’s night.
Playing on either wing would give Arsenal’s attack a dynamic boost and provide stiff competition for Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. If you haven’t paid attention, you will definitely believe that Arteta won’t mind being able to have another speedster to shave the opposition down.
The Contract Saga: Golden Opportunity?
For all their Bundesliga domination, Bayern Munich has not yet found a way to keep Sané. The contract extension talks have stalled like a teenager’s Wi-Fi just before finals week. That gives Arsenal the opportunity to pounce, and, in the case of Sané at least, by January, he will be able to do deals elsewhere.
However, it could be a financial masterstroke for the Gunners. Arsenal would either get Sané for less than that astronomical transfer fee or on a free (if Bayern takes a long time to decide). Given the club’s recent financial reticence (thanks, FFP), this sort of deal is altogether as appealing as a stoppage time winner against Spurs.
