Pittsburgh Steelers sign former Jaguars defensive tackle

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Esezi Otomewo, the team announced. Otomewo comes over to the team after spending his last two years with the Jaguars.

A 2022 fifth-round pick out of Minnesota by the Vikings, Otomewo is joining his third team in four years, and the Steelers hope that he can give them some upside.

Otomewo has played in just nine games over his first three seasons. He started two games for the Jaguars this last season, notching 0.5 sack. Otomewo had three sacks in the 2024 preseason, which earned him a roster spot.

The length for Otomewo stands out, as he stands at 6-foot-5 and has 34 1/2-inch arms. That length allows him to use a long arm and bull rush. He is 282 pounds and plays primarily as a base end in the Steelers' scheme.

Otomewo played his college football at Minnesota and is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. He hopes to earn a roster spot with the Steelers, but they plan to replenish their defensive line this offseason, and it certainly feels like an uphill climb to make the roster.
