When Joshua Palmer agreed to a three-year free agent deal with the Buffalo Bills, the expectation was that the former Los Angeles Charger could be helpful, but not the focal point in the passing attack.
With Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman on the roster, there really wasn't a need for that in Buffalo.
NFL Films Analyst Greg Cosell believes, though, that Palmer has the ability and "traits" to be not only a focal point in the offense, but one of the more important pieces for Buffalo finally getting out of the AFC.
"Maybe he just needed a change of scenery. I don't know the answer. I'm not gonna sit here and say he's gonna catch 90 balls for 1,400 yards. Who knows? But this guy has traits," said Cosell on One Bills Live. "I loved Josh Palmer coming out of Tennessee. I thought he could be a really, really good NFL receiver I remember when they played Alabama when he was at Tennessee, and he ran by [All-Pro cornerback] Patrick Surtain, twice. He has vertical speed.
"Without being there [in Los Angeles], I can't speak to the reasons why it hasn't happened, but you're dealing with a guy that has a lot of traits and he does have vertical ability."

Palmer caught 182 passes in four seasons with the Chargers and showed his ability as a true deep threat in the league. He has averaged over 12 yards per reception throughout his career.
No free agent is guaranteed to have a successful year no matter who the starting quarterback is.
Buffalo is banking on Palmer's upside, though, to change the dynamic of their offense and help the league MVP continue to dominate at a high level.
