The offseason is usually a place for players around the league to finally give back to the community in major ways without the grueling pressures of games and practices that come in-season.
For Buffalo Bills third-round pick last season DeWayne Carter, his first full offseason of being an NFL player without the concerns of the Combine give him a chance to head back home.
And give back there.
Carter is back in Columbus, Ohio and hosting the DeWayne Carter Football Camp at Pickerington Central High School on June 7, 2025. It was a decision that Carter knew was going to happen relatively quickly once the season ended.
"Pickerington made me who I am, and I couldn't think of a better place to give back," said Carter. "This community shaped me as a player and as a man, and now I want to pour into the next generation of young athletes right here at home."
The camp is designed to "allow young athletes to train with Carter and learn the values of discipline, leadership, and perseverance on the very field where his football journey began" according to ABC6 at WSYX in Ohio.

The camp is open to players ages 7 to 14 and will feature expert coaching, position-specific drills, and game-day scenarios aimed at elevating the skills of young athletes.
Carter had three starts in his rookie season for the Bills and appeared in 11 other games. He is expected to take on a bigger role next season in Buffalo.
Before that happens, though, the former Duke product is making his way home to help his community.
