Doug Nussmeier is the new Offensive Coordinator for the Saints. Garrett Nussmeier talked about how excited he is to have his father coaching in New Orleans. He said, "Obviously, it's going to be really cool for not just me and my dad but my entire family to have him that close. I tell people all the time [that] I've been a Saints fan my entire life because he played there and he was always in college. Since he's been in the NFL, I haven't really had the opportunity so now I can be a full Who Dat again and so I'm excited for that. I think he's really excited to be back there. It's great for our family and great for him. So I'm excited for him and it's going to be really, really cool."
Nussmeier also spoke about what kind of coach the Saints will be getting in his dad. He said, "They're getting a dog. They're getting a guy who's going to work his tail off. Somebody who's not afraid to speak his mind, to do what he believes is right. So I think that his track record speaks for itself on the talent level of that coach that he is. Obviously, he's my father and I'm biased but I think he's a pretty dang good coach."
Nussmeier also talked about what he wanted to get out of Spring football. He said, "I think for me it's not an individual thing, it's about our team and our unit. I think it's my responsibility to do the best job I can as a leader to push guys, to get guys in the right spots and to get guys going in the right places. Also, to bring the level of intensity and juice that is expected from me as the starting quarterback of this team."
